Welcome to Hook and Line, where the freshest Alaskan salmon meets a delightful taste experience! Our line-caught salmon is a cut above the rest, offering a rich, buttery flavor and tender texture that will make your taste buds dance with joy. Line-caught one fish at a time, our salmon is handled individually from the moment it comes aboard - no nets, no bulk processing. Our dedicated fishers process and flash-freeze the salmon within hours of being caught, right on the boat. This locks in the freshness of the moment it left the water, and spares the fish the stress and damage that bulk methods cause.
Eating our line-caught Alaskan salmon isn't just a treat for your palate. Wild salmon is naturally rich in omega-3 fatty acids and a strong source of high-quality protein, vitamins and minerals - nutrition that comes from a fish that lived its whole life in open water, eating what salmon eat. Choose Hook and Line for your salmon cravings and savor the difference of fish that’s been caught with care, respect, and a commitment to sustainability. Dive into a meal that’s as good for you as it is for the planet!
What makes our salmon different?
Every fish is wild-caught in Alaskan waters and taken one at a time on hook and line - a method that minimizes bycatch and handles each fish individually. From there it is pressure bled, vacuum sealed and flash frozen at peak freshness, which is how it arrives at your door tasting like the day it came out of the water. Browse fresh coho, small-batch smoked coho and smoked salmon spread below, or see how we cook it on the recipe blog.
Is flash-frozen salmon as good as fresh?
Often better. "Fresh" counter salmon may be days old by the time you buy it; flash freezing right after the catch locks quality in place, and an overnight thaw in the refrigerator brings it back at its peak.
What does line-caught mean?
One hook, one line, one fish at a time - no nets, no factory trawlers. It is slower fishing that yields better-handled fish and keeps bycatch to a minimum. It is also the method we are named for. More on the sustainability practices page.
Where can I try it in person?
We sell at California farmers markets - dates and locations are on the in-person markets page.
